Dr. Gürkan Pamukçu was born in Ankara in 1981 and spent his entire education there. After graduating from Çankaya National Lottery Anatolian High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Administration at Gazi University. He then earned his master's degree in International Relations and his doctorate in the same department. During this time, he worked for one year as a Middle East expert at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. While pursuing his doctoral studies, he worked as a research assistant in the Public Administration Department of Şırnak University for one and a half years and in the International Relations Department of Gazi University for four and a half years. In 2018, he earned his doctorate with his thesis titled "The Effects of Turkish and Iraqi Government Policies on the Politicization of Kurdish Identity." He returned to Cyprus in 2021 and was appointed Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at Ada Kent University. He served as Acting Dean of the same faculty for three years. He served as Secretary General of Ada Kent University from 2022 to 2024.
He continues to serve in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at International University of Alasia, a position he began in 2025.
Throughout his academic career, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at various universities on Turkish Foreign Policy, Turkish Political Life, Political History, International Public Law, International Maritime Law, Public Law, and Comparative Government Systems. He continues his research in the fields of nation-state, ethnic nationalism, minorities, Iraqi studies, early Republican Turkish political life, and Middle Eastern political history.
